Better Representation for You

My name is Robert Whitman. I live in Shawnee and I want to represent you in the Kansas House of Representatives in District 18. If you live in the eastern part of Shawnee and the three precincts in the northwest corner of Merriam, you can vote for better representation in Topeka.

The prosperity, health, safety and security of everyone is this district can be enhanced through legislative action using the principles that guide me. These are limited government, individual liberty, economic freedom and traditional values.

The legislature has the ability to and I will work to:

  • Cap property taxes so that homeowners and seniors are not squeezed out their homes. Renters also benefit from these caps.
  • End regulations not intended by laws passed in the Legislature. These regulations can be unduly burdensome to those regulated.
  • Safeguard our energy grid and reduce utility bills.
  • Provide law enforcement with the tools to help fight against drug and human trafficking.
  • Improve Medicaid by shortening waiting lists and raising reimbursement rates for health care providers.

...And more

Being an elected official is something I want to do because I want to serve you. Government should make your life easier. Too often government makes your life harder through higher taxation, burdensome regulations and impractical ideology.

Let’s have a conversation about problems that state government is able to fix. Let’s find solutions to solve those problems without creating more problems.

I face the same challenges as so many people in the district, such as trying to make ends meet in a period of higher inflation.

I have spent almost all of my life in Johnson County. That includes spending a great deal of my childhood in Shawnee, in a house located in this district. I am blessed to be here now with an opportunity to serve you in the Kansas House.

I look forward to meeting you between now and the election on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
